Re: [TCLUG:15187] gdm corrupted by forte/glibc install?
Thanks. I'm afraid I have a newbies bit of homework to do. I've been
looking through the gdm config files and may have found some differences
between what's here at work (where I still have the work version) and
what's at home. I couldn't make much sense of the log files when I looked
at them yesterday. But Some of the things are starting to look familiar,
especially that had an error involving "MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1..."
and another which had "xsti is turned off ".
I'm still unclear about what normally touches off this cascade of gdm
activity on a normal boot-- I assumed it was one of the "S" files in rc5.d
but couldn't find anything that made sense to me?
Anyway, thanks for the response. I need to spend more time mapping out
what's there in front of my nose already.
