Granted there are several different distributions of Linux and *BSD... so
you can't take care of them all in one fail swoop... but pick the most
common, RH as stated here, and support it and state what the tested
platforms have been... I'm sure clients will let you know when they have
tested it on a new platform and the results and you then add that to the
tested list...
	Another way to get around the problem of Ascend having to have a
machine running each OS platform is find the Ascend clients that have that
OS and are willing to allow shell access to the machine for their
engineers to do the coding tests they require... This is a technique other
commercial software providers are willing to do because they acknowledge
the market... To toot someones horn I'll mention C2Net the makers of the
Stronghold Secure Web server as one company that will do this... How do I
know... because they have offered it to me and the company I work for
because they do not have a machine running RedHat 5.0 on a DEC Alpha to
produce the port for... The do however have the Intel version... All they
require of us is so much disk space to work with and an account with SSH
login access... Just an idea to follow...
