It can, I've installed Linux on a SPARC 1+ personally. It is, however,
totally slow. A SPARC 1+ is not much of a machine, even for an antique.

People have pointed out that you need an ethernet tranceiver and
13w3->svga. A word of warning - you need a pretty decent SVGA monitor for
this, as it uses a fixed-frequency at 1152x900. Running X on this thing
will blow, and if you're going to stay in text mode, you're better off
running a serial console. You can jst null-cable it to your PC's serial
port (I assume null-cable, someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
The monitor adapters are about $35.

They're plain ol' SCSI drives. However, I _did_ have a problem with two
SPARC 1+ machines. They needed TWO drives installed or they wouldn't even
boot to the prom.
