(ASCEND) Connection problem?!
Hello. This is a very interesting problem. :)
I am running an RS/6000 with AIX ver 4.2. it has a Livingston radius ver
1.16 with Ascend extensions. I have 5 Ascend Max boxes, a 4002, two 4004,
two 4048. I have one 3Com Total Control Chassis (56K). I also have a
Cisco 2611 Router. I also have some old 28.8 USR modems and Penril Comm
Servers. All of the Ascend modems and the 56K 3Com modems run off of
Radius and the 28.8 modems through Tacacs. Problem: Whenever my
connection to the internet drops, OR if I unplug the connection from my
router NO ONE can get authenticated via Radius. Tacacs and the 28.8
modems work fine. I have tried plugging a cross over cable from the
server, ip 209.71.61.2, into the max box, ip 209.71.61.10, it still does
the same thing..not authentication. I tried the same thing with the 3Com
Total Control, ip 209.71.61.3, with the cross over cable...Still no
Authentication. I can ping both boxes with connected via cross over cable
and I can telnet to them. The CPU utilization remains at 0%... I am able
to add users to the 3Com Total Control as a local profile. I CAN connect
with it that way, but noot through Radius. I even tried clearing the
arp cache. Still nothing... Could it be a Radius problem?
I get my IP's from Voicenet. I don't own them. Does Radius try to do a
nslookup or something before it authenticates and gives an IP address?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
