Re: (ASCEND) max4000 problem



There is an issue with power supplies on the MAX4000 series.  Older type
boxes should not be used with S56 cards, as the current draw of the S56
cards eventually kills the power supply.  The new style MAX4000 have power
supply rated at twice the current draw of the older style.  What you're
seeing is the power supply is on it's last legs, as the 5V rail (powering
the cards) has more than likely dropped below tolerance...

Answer:     RMA the box.

We've seen this happen on several occasions...  typically when we doo a card
upgrade from V.34 to S56 cards.  Ascend in this siide of the world are very
aware of this.
