(ASCEND) Max not routing
Hi.
I set up a max 1800 this weekend and I must be doing something stupid
because I cant get it to route correctly.
Its on a /26 subnet at address x.y.z.180 and I have set the pool to assign
addresses starting at 181 which it gladly does. The max is on the same
subnet as a couple of Lucent PM 3's. So anyway, I have the users set up in
radius to get a framed address of 255.255.255.255 so it assigns an address
which it does, and I also have framed netmask to 255.255.255.255.
The user logs in, authenticates, etc... and can get to the gateway router at
x.y.z.1 (its not on the same subnet as the max 1800), but I cannot access
any other ip addresses within the same /26 subnet, such as the other 2 pm
3's. The only thing I can access is the max itself. I did a winpifg on a
win 98 box dialing in and it claims that the netmask is 255.255.255.0. Why
is it doing this?? There should be no netmask.
I did some experimentation and if I enter a route on a linux box on the
same subnet, from itself to the assigned ip address for a diales in session,
then the remote session can access the linux box. Its like there is no route
to the local subnet, but from the max box, I can access everything.
Am I doing something wrong that is different from the way Livingston does
things? Can I not assign remote ips on the max that are considered local to
its ethernet? Do I have to put the max in a different subnet than the ip
addresses I assign to the dial in users?
