Actually the BitSurfer does the async/sync conversion. The MAX knows nothing
about the async-PPP behind the BSPro...

The MAX would make a regular PPP call - just like the one that it received.
The problem is/was that the BitSurfr does not/did not support incoming
sync-PPP calls (why, I don't know)...

Not true. The P15 will work just fine in this configuration....
