Have you talked to our tech support about this...I'm sure they must have
come across this combination before. 

Anyway....if you don't use CHAP, are you still authenticating him ?
Do you have a connection profile/user profile for him in the MAX ?
What does the routing table on the MAX look like when he connects ?
What about the routing table on the Bay router?
