(ASCEND) Ascend to Bay

I'm trying to connect a Bay Networks to our Max4000.  He can connect
to us, if he does not use CHAP and if he uses PPP.  BUT, after connecting,
he is not able to route any IP.  He is not even able to ping his own
router on his network.  Is there any special settings to connect a
BAY networks hub to my MAX?  Bay networks has been LESS than helpfull
about the whole deal.
