I've been using a combination of Bay/Xylogics Remote Annexes and Ascend
Maxen/pipelines here, and it's *hell* to say the least.

Depends what kind of Bay unit it is; with the Remote Annexes running
R13.3.X, they implemented some sort of 'un-arp' command, which the Ascend
boxes misinterpret as ARP requests; end result, it hex-ifies the IP
address of the annex and uses that for a MAC address. It's ugly. =o
I believe it goes far beyond that, but.. there's a simple fix to it.

Add a generic filter, along these lines:

IP call, Input filter 1:

offset22, len3, mask (6 fffffff's)
value cff5e10000000000 (the first three octets of the Bay's IP addr)
Forward=no

Then add filter 2, forward=yes.

Anyway....if you
don't use CHAP, are you still authenticating
him ? > Do you have a connection profile/user profile for him in the MAX ?

That could be what it is; I've been having a hell of a time with Bay +
Ascend. That's the only recommendation I can make.. if you own anything
from either vendor, do NOT mix them on the same lan. >:)
