Ahh, I've seen this problem, too. I never knew what it was, but I'd power
cycled the box a lot.

Our BRIs are NI-1 also, but we're connected to a 5ESS switch.

We've added our BRIs one at a time so I really doubt that any of them are
anywhere near the others.

I guess that you've not seen the performance problems that we have. It was a
horrible problem to ping the M1800 and get 100% response but pinging a remote
P75 would get only 65% of the packets back. As you can imagine, telnet
sessions were quite painful and FTPing files was almost impossible.

Ascend asked us for a packet trace of our Ethernet so they'd get an idea of
what's going around on the M1800's Ethernet. I sent that to them, but the
Ascend techs haven't yet come up with any explanation about why the M1800
performs so poorly.

One thing that may be helping create the problem is that we do bridging
entirely... no routing. (Can't route many of the non-IP packets on our
network.) I assume that others using M1800's are using them for IP routing.
