I think you can also do what you're looking for with /etc/hosts.allow &
/etc/hosts.deny
man 5 hosts_access (at least under RH 4.2) explains these. I think
syntax for hosts.equiv will be similar. Basically it's the hostname or
IP of the box you want to give access and the services (as listed in
/etc/inetd.conf) that you want access to.
