that controller should be supported by the linux AIC 7xxx kernel.. if you
want to test it.. download the slackware disk:

ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu/pub/Linux/slackware/bootdsks.144/aha2x4x.s

rawrite that and boot up.. if it works.. then you are having other
problems
