Linux & Cable Modems

Still haven't figured out the routing problem yet at home but I do have
another question.

My husband has a cable modem and we were thinking about getting rid of our
dedicated modem line and just use the cable modem for Internet connectivity
for all of our workstations.

I just gave Charter Pipline (who we have service through) and they said that
they now offer additional IPs.

Does anyone here have experience setting up something like the following:

Cable Modem connected to Router (linux box or maybe something else?) - 1
static IP
NT Server for WWW server - 1 static IP
2 Win 98 machines - DHCP maybe..trying to limit the amount of IPs we would
have to buy

Are their any how-tos, etc. on how to setup something like this?

I also would like to get away from using the Linux box as a router if
possible. I have had too many problems with it and would just like to have
the box to play with instead. Does anyone have any experience with the new
Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL router? More info about this can be seen at:

Thanks!
