There's always CD-R[W] (up to 650MB) or one of the various recordable
DVD formats (up to 2.6GB per side = 5.2GB per disk).  Though I don't
think those can be accessed like a normal drive/partition.  The
Castlewood ORB drive [http://www.castlewood.com/] might be a good option
(2.2GB).  I think it's supported in Linux (if you get a SCSI or IDE
version, at least).
