Well, hit me with a clue stick...

I couldn't get X to run at > 1280x1024 because (A) I forgot to update the
synch range (at work) and/or was adding "1600x1200" to the wrong
section! Duhhh...

The reason I was even trying it was because the specs for my new monitor
at work (Gateway EV910, no idea who really makes them, don't ask what it
took to get them to actually replace the old one) said "1600x1200@75". 

I got the monitor at home to do it, too, but it's a bit much on a 17",
even for me. This is a really amazing 17" monitor. It's a Sun monitor,
which I thought were all Sony, but it's not a trinitron so I can't be
sure. OT: Anyone know who makes the new Sun monitors?
