Summoning fog and polymorphing that is rather dangerous. I would avoid
that at low levels since it can produce all kinds of monsters and
generators (besides, how many wands/rods of polymorph do you find
at low levels? Or do the new gods give you "polymorph" as well?)

Not sure about polymorphing monsters, though --- we never needed that.
Polymorphing is more like a funny extra to play with in crossfire,
not a useful spell.
