Re: (ASCEND) Connection Woes...
We've had this same problem for a while. My contact with ascend tech about
it has not been the greatest. There are actually TWO problems that can
happen here.
1) The user shows online and can _SEND_ packets out just fine.
2) The user shows online but can only _RECEIVE_ packets.
in the case of (1), it looks to me like the Max is losing track of what
interface belongs to what ip. I can see pings come from the user to a host
and the host respond(with a packet sniffer). On the Max with wandsess I get
data going out, nothing going in.
in the case of (2), I figure there's a Windows problem. Data is getting to
the user correctly, but the user's doing nothing with it.
Last word from Ascend tech was that (1) was a modem going into a retrain of
death but only on the outgoing line(from me to the cust.). The user in
question switched modems, and the problem didn't go away. He has since
switched service providers(thanks ascend!), and the problem has gone
away(the other person uses Livingstons).
