That's unlikely, the MTU/MRU should automatically set itself to the
largest supported size on either end.

The values are tucked away in the Registry.  You have to bust out Regedit
and look, hard, for them.  I think they also default to 1524.  Uhhmmmm....

If you look at lagcity.stomped.com, you can find the "delagger" patch for
Quake.  This patch contains a registry update which adjusts the MTU (to
512, but hey).  If it's worth it to you, you can look through it and it
should contain the information about where it is in the registry.  :)
