(ASCEND) Ascent Radius Attributes - clarification

Hi ALL,

Could anybody clarify the following two doubts?

This is regarding two ascend radius attributes.

1. Ascend-PreSession-Time  [ id  198].

    Ascend says this attribute as the duration between the
connection of a call and the complete authentication process.

What my question is that whether this  includes the "modem training time"
also.
[Modem training time is the duration between the call arrival and its
actual connection by modem.]

2. Ascend-Data-Rate [id 197].

What is this rate ? Transmit or receive?
If so what is the other attribute?

(People say this as the connect-speed of the modem. But it is not clear)
