(ASCEND) Shiva AccessPort connecting to a Ascend 4048

Hi, I've got a Shiva AccessPort, originally logging onto a LanRover.  It
worked fine, routing and all.  Now we want it to connect to a Max4048.  I've
created the profile, unnumbered, IP routing enbled only.  The Acessport
connects, logs in and stays up.  I can ping the Internet and all seems fine.
The problem is that I can't browse, telnet, ftp, mail, pretty much
everything one would need the router for is not available.  On the other
hand, which really confuses me, is that ICQ, PcAnywhere and my Citrix
Winframe client works.

Hsa anyone seen this before?  Is it a config on the Max, AccessPort, or is
it just incompatibility?  I've searched DejaNews and nothing.
