One of these days I'll understand the merits of a closed or open beta.
Since I was 13 I've dealt with programmers who insist on "closed betas"
and "private gamma" tests and all that.  

Beta means test.  
Gamma means test.  
Alpha means test.  

Test means "if it doesn't work, don't bitch, go back a revision until it
does work."  

Test should never mean "join my clique to try this code";  that's
bullsh1t.
