(ASCEND) Pre-Carrier TONE ??!??




Hi all,

We've just totally migrated over to MAX4xxx and we are experiencing some
problems with users of USR sportster 14.4 modems in that the pre-carrier tone
which the max emits prior to carrier negotiation causes the sportster 14.4's to
basically say "what the hell is that?  I don't recognize it" and fail to
negotiate.  Is there some way of turning off that pre-carrier tone ?

Signed... a very annoyed Leland because having had these boxes on test for over
a month with no user problems, the users only just NOW decide that they can't
connect... *sigh*
