(ASCEND) Cheapass modems and TNTs

We are having consistant issues with modems with a PCtel chipset. This
includes Zoltrix, CTX, Multiwave (mwave again), Dataflex, Micromodems,
Goldenway, etc... The Micromodems come in the emachines (www.e4me.com)
which a lot of people seem to be buying. The modem just says disconnected
by the computer you were dialing when someone tries to dial into our TNTs
running 7.0.0-7.0.4, but didn't have a problem with a Max 4004 running
6.0.1. Anyone have a solution for this or know how I can maybe
troubleshoot it and see why it won't work? Thanks for the time.
