I agree with you - Open Transport provides a reliable platform for dialin.
In this case, both users are running MacTCP with ConfigPPP - BUT - If I use the
same software, with the same configuration on my Macintosh, I can dial in
without a problem... The issue here seems to be the modem (an internal apple
14k modem in their Performa 580).
The max is using the 56K modems, but 56K functionality is turned off - they are
running 33K mode at present.
