Re: (ASCEND) In Defense Of Ascend...
C'mon guys
Ok you all run Linux. I like it to. I run it at home. The company I work for
uses it at work. I like Linux.
If you really want to start bashing Companies around the head wtih what
Unix's you
would like to be supported on the Navis side of things I would not be
looking at Ascend
directly to be at blame. I would be looking at the people who write at
produce Network
Managment software which Ascend have to integrate with. People like HP.
Openview is
only supported by NT HP-ux and Solaris. Navis works at its best when hooked
into
HP openview. HP openview is one of the most popular managment platforms for
Large
networks so Ascend have to make there software compatible with this as most
networks
are made up of all sorts of kit.
As soon as all of the big manufacturers think of Linux as a comercially
viable platform
then you will get the things you want but having a got at Ascend on there
own isn't the
answer.
cheers
