(ASCEND) Max1800 and Dialing In

I've got a client using a Max1800 to do dialing in for both isdn and
33.6.  When he dial's in with the 33.6 the max reports "far end hung up"
before you can hear the "first dial" on the 33.6.  ISDN connections are
made no problem.

Has anyone encountered this?  What settings need to be enabled for both
33.6 and ISDN?
