(ASCEND) MAX4000 and Frame Relay
Is it feasable to plug a frame relay T1 (to the internet) strait from the
CSU/DSU into a MAX and use the MAX as the router? Or is it better practice
to put a router ( ie cisco) between the MAX and CSU/DSU? Also, if it is
feasible to plug directly into the MAX does it eat up any resources or slow
down dial-ups?
What I really want to do is this, T1 to the Internet plugs into Adtran
CSU/DSU then directly into MAX4000. 2 PRI's plug into MAX4000 to provide
dial-up and dedicated access. Both the MAX and Local Servers (ie web
server, mail and radius servers ) plug into hub and MAX4000 acts as a
gateway as well as a router to the Internet.
If the MAX can not be used this way what router/gateway is recommended for
the above setup? Or what other equipment would be required?
Thanks for any help,
David Mulberry
