  Routers, Switches: Famous Auto Race Tracks (taledaga, daytona, etc.)
  Bridges: Famous Bridges, of course (brooklyn, goldengate, london)
  Windoze Servers: Deserts (sahara, arizona)
  Linux Servers: Desserts (banannasplit, parfait)

If you really want a boring name standard:

  Routers, Switches: rtr-location, sw-location
  Bridges: br-location

Name locations for closets, buildings, or cities (depending on what your
topology is).
