Tom, I did some googling on your header error(google on _R_ver_str), and it looks like your kernel source modversion info is bad. Here is a reference to a similar problem: (http://www.sandelman.ottawa.on.ca/linux-ipsec/html/2001/05/msg00440.html) Probably got messed up after the make oldconfig and make dep that I suggested. Try it again with a "make mrproper" before the make oldconfig, make dep. If that doesn't work, remove and re-installing the "kernel-source" package might do the trick(without running make mrproper and so on.)
