I love Slackware. (yes yes you can now flame me for posting with the lug list with an outlook client using a hotmail address :P) My first linux experience was installing slackware from floppies which I believe was version 3.0 (maybe 3.5?) at the time... I have tried just about every other distro out there but I always go back to the slack just because it is so straight forward. I am probably a dummy but I find package management systems to be super handy and guitily easy when they work but a terrible, terrible pain when you break something (which for me is seemingly inevitable). So, for that reason I stick with slack and compile from source. If you want to learn linux you cannot go wrong with slackware.
