Well as far as wiring, I was able to pick up 1000' of cat 5e at Home Despot for $48, as for they rest the only real suggestion I can give you is run all the cabling to one central place I put my stuff in an unused closet in the basement with a switch hub, and leave enough room on the through holes to run fiber later.
