When we were loading linux on to some "vintage" (ok old...) systems when I was teaching up in Duluth I found an online database of monitor spec sheets. If you've got an old monitor that might help. If you've got a recent one try the mfg. website. Unfortunately I don't have the URL handy but I think we found it via Yahoo.
