Personally, my answer is `unalias ls` and just add the appropriate options
when you want them.  `unalias ls` or `alias ls='ls -l'` don't prevent you
from seeing everything, they give you the option of not seeing everything at
times when you don't want to see it.  IMO, it makes no sense to set an
alias which says "show me everything all the time" and then complain about
being shown everything.
