Strange.  From my vanilla (Debian) 2.2.17 kernel source:

I don't know why it wouldn't be in Suse 2.2.16.  But from 
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/NM256, it looks like the homepage for
that driver is http://www.uglx.org/sony.html.  So if nothing else
you should be able to download it there, though if I were you I
probably just go ahead and download the whole source for either
2.2.18 or 2.4.1.
