Peter,
I am not a Debian bitch, but a slacker (Slackware) user. I am using CUPS and
Gimp-Print and found it to be a sweet setup. The Gimp-Print
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ stuff says it supports a Lexmark Z51
operationally, but I don't have one to try out. I am using CUPS with
Gimp-Print (wonderfull combo!) to print to an Epson 777. I had researched
getting an Lexmark Z11 working before giving up on it, but knew that the
Lexmark printers were somewhat better supported by the Gimp-Print folks, so
you may wish to give that a try.
