[VANILLA-L:687] make patches

Working on the make patches...

          if [ ! -L ../$${f} ] ; then \
            if [ ! -f $(PATCHDIR)/$${f} ] ; then \
              touch $(PATCHDIR)/$${f} ; \
            fi ; \

The ! -L means not symlink? When I read GNU make's info pages it says
it exec this stuff under sh, my sh does not have -L option.

Any suggestions?
