RE: [TCLUG:1781] DNS server timing out

Try /usr/sbin/named.restart  or check /var/log/messages to see why it
didn't start in the first place. Also when you do an nslookup do you get
your linux box answering?

[kotek@postal kotek]$ nslookup yahoo.com
Server:  oath.net
Address:  206.9.160.5

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    yahoo.com
Address:  204.71.177.35
