If you use it with a filesystem that is able to do this, sure.
Its not 'easy' last time i checked, but it consists of telling the FS,
like reiserfs, what the new size is and to reduce to it, then tell lvm
to reduce. you can do it the other way by making it larger, and then
tell the fs to extend.
So yes, if your fs can do it, yes. you can.
