Whowa here, where did you go the last few months? Did half the people on
this list find a cave to live in for AY2k?

A) The IPO market has sucked for the last few months.
B) most upcoming linux IPO's have been nixed.
C) raising the rates aint gonna help the IPO situation in the long term

Secondly, corel is desperate.

Their PR buzzwords of the week are moving with the industry instead of
focusing on just linux.

Their recent Office release for linux was a half assed non-native effor
that involved just packaging wine to run the windows version, not even
doing a great job at making sure it worked on much else than their own
dist.

I am unimpressed.

Lastly, I agree that stock value means shit. IPO pop is inevatible, well,
was inevatible. Unless you have a deal these days, its not worth it.
Better off finding a growth and emerging technology based mutual fund that
has half a shot at getting in at the ground floor and posting modest
profits. But me beating on daytraders and the such is a horse i dont want
to beat either.

Not to say I'm an expert or anything.

Just that if people had a clue.... I dont think the market would be as
messed up as it is. Now the market has issues following the economy
because people are becoming more dumb. But, the 401k's and the IRA's do
add an interesting factor.

I donno. the market makes me wonder these days.

And, as a side note, I still have stock in VA. VA has a large chance in
this market, and they are *not* going anywhere for a while. I feel that
their current stock valuation is low for their potentials in the next few
years. If they post a profit when they expect to (i think its a year or
so away) I expect that the market will piss their pants over it because
its not another money-losing stupid company with a huge burn rate.

Ill stop now :)
