ETRN issues

I remember in the not-so-distant past when using ETRN queues for mail was
considered "bad ju-ju" because of security holes. I dealt with customer
need by using a <tsk tsk, I know> Win-based MDaemon server because it was
easy to setup and restrict access from a IP/host list. Have there been
any known issues with ETRN queues lately? Are there any more updated
HOWTOs or FAQs on setup of such beasts? I would love to run all these
services from Linux boxen but haven't delved into the config lately with
sendmail.

Thoughts or comments welcome! Experiences / trials / tribulations too!

Regards,
Mark
