Re: [TCLUG:14946] IMAP vs POP

I now have it running on my home machine. I run email from there (using
postfix). I am using the Washington U version of IMAP (uw-imap?). I use it
in conjunction with procmail. Works wonderfully. I have been using nothing
but IMAP for years with VISI.com. The reason it is so nice is that I can
manage my email from any location that leaves the IMAP port open. With POP
you get stuck with using the option to not download and delete the email.
You are forced to deal with the junk again later. I can not offer any real
world examples of performance, but a couple of people using IMAP on my old
Pentium machines has not been an issue in the slightest (and this machine
runs a low load firewall/gateway, postfix, Apache, SSH, Samba, bind ...)
