Well, you should be fine as long as you never have any network problems
whatsoever, and all the permissions are set juuust right.
IIRC, Qpopper will copy a person's mail folder to a temporary file (like
.pop.jethro), and let you download/whatever from there. It will then try
and copy whatever remains of that file back to the original filename,
merging them together if new mail has arrived. Naturally over an NFS link
this kind of interaction is somewhat less secure and more prone to errors.
I personally don't like running ANYTHING mail-related through NFS. But I
have been called somewhat paranoid.
