Debian by default uses getty for VCs, and (after a quick glance through
the manpage) I don't believe it can clear the screen on logout. mingetty
is the one that I use though (I change it on a new install), because it
has a much smaller footprint than getty and it clears the screen (also has
a --noclear option to not clear the screen, which I use on the first
console so I can see bootup msgs).
