From reading the ext3 docs, all journaling information is stored in a
special file on an otherwise normal ext2 filesystem, so theoretically, the
filesystem wouldn't be damaged, however the journalling information would
be lost.
Assuming a version of fsck that understands the journalling, then it
would just playback the journal logs...
