I don't know, but I think the unix-general-ity of the earlier OpenSSH
stuff may have been because they were just trying to iron out the SSH1
stuff and make it work. The incompatibilities may come from the fact
that they have to write the SSH2 stuff from scratch (it isn't in ssh
1.2.*). We shouldn't rush to judgement on this until we know all the
