Well lets see:
There is satelite phone
Short wave radio (but the connection is very slow should be ok for email
with pine or something)
A really long telephone chord.
Cellular if you are near land.
I think it would be a good Idea for someone (a company) to tap into those
fiber optic lines at the bottom of the ocean, and set up under water towers
for cellular service. Lets say there is 100 mile range around each tower. So
basicly if you need to make a call or check your email you would pull out
your map and sail into one of these service areas and get your work done
then sail out.
