 Matter of debate.

 Having items that attack with and also protect against the same attacktype is
fairly popular/common.  Such items make some sense - an expert of that
particular element made it, so it has both attack and defense of that
attacktype.

 At the same time, something like a frostband (attack cold) can be seen as
creating a cool area around the character, which is why it protects them against
fire.

 I personally prefer these variations in items.  It provides some choices in
what the best item is.
