Personally, I think it's ludicrous that a weapon could raise your intelligence, or anything else not directly related to fighting. Methinks its bonuses should only even apply when using it. In other words, if it "increases your strength", that shouldn't increase the amount of stuff you can carry. Only the amount of damage you do in fightning, or equivalent.
