Re: (ASCEND) Data over voice on TNT
Thanks for the reply. You've confirmed what I thought should
happen, but have been given conflicting info from support about how it's done.
That's what it appears we may need to do. We don't have any
seperate HDLC cards. All we got were the combo modem/HDLC cards which
should be able to terminate a DOV call, but it doesn't look like there is
any way in the current OS to facilitate it. There is no way to force the
HDLC to answer instead of the modem.
Support says that all we need to do is set up a call-route-type of
digital on the separate number, and all the calls that come in on that
number will be routed to the HDLC controller, regardless of whether it is
voice or data bearing. This seems to me to be wrong, but this is the first
Ascend gear I've used so I could be mistaken. What it looks like to me
that happens is that all calls that come in as data route fine. When a
call comes in over voice, it sees that there is no call-route for voice on
that number and returns a busy. If I put a route for voice or any, it
sends the voice service to a modem.
Thanks,
Tim
